We Love No Other 6.15 - Bob Zuppke

I said on Twitter last night that I would publish the stat we discovered during this podcast when I published this episode this morning. But now I think this needs to be a two-part thing. I'll let you listen to the podcast first and then I'll go write about the stat we discovered. So Part II will be later today (in written form).
Part I is this chat with @BobZuppke (not the real Bob Zuppke - he's buried across the street from the stadium) where we talk about what we've all been talking about all season: where is the line between "8-4 is incredible" and "oh man we really should be 10-2"? How do you define success for Illinois football? And why in the name of all that's holy was Chase Brown 2nd team All Big Ten?
You listen to this, and I'll go write, and then let's meet up again this afternoon so you can read Part II. Because you're going to want to know more about the stat once you reach the end of this pod.
If you want to listen or subscribe to We Love No Other on Apple Podcasts, you can do that here. If you want to listen or subscribe to We Love No Other on Spotify, you can do that here. And if you want to listen online right now, you can do that here:
I have not listened to this yet so I don't know if you guys touched on it or not but I've been having a recurring question that was highlighted even more by your final "Convincing Fashion" numbers column. Here it is: When is the last time Illinois Football came down on the extremely "lucky" side of these numbers? Where we actually outperform the expected wins? Feels like other teams do this (cough Indiana cough Nern) but we find ourselves on the [insert team year] was actually better than their final record! Which, is nice! But I sure would love a little luck here and there too! So.... when is the last time we actually had more wins than these stats would expect??

Yes
2001 and 2007 were both that way. 2001 because we won every close game, 2007 because of a fair bit of turnover luck.
