Hard to describe my mood. Just got back to the tailgate and chatted with Carmen and he's in the same spot. Yes, there's no Big Ten Championship Game. But when I say I don't care about that in this moment, I really don't care about that in this moment. Eight wins is so special to me.

And AS I'M TYPING THAT, I get this text from my friend Brent:

That's basically what I just spent the last 13 minutes saying into my phone on the field. There are a lot of gaps in here because I'm taking photos of players with the HAT, but these are my immediate postgame thoughts. An eight-win football season -- especially one that ends like this with all these INTERCEPTIONS -- feels better than I ever imagined.

I love this team. Go Illini.

We finished 8-4, and in the losses we were behind entering the fourth quarter only once. Had a chance late in every single game.

Unbelievable progress in two years. Just go refresh yourself with some previous box scores. Congratulations to the players, coaches and others involved with the program. Well done.

I think the INT total for the season stands at 22. Incredible! The foundation these coaches and players have built in 2 seasons is what I am most excited about. Looking forward to next year already.
