Of the Illini’s recent bowl games, the most tickets were sold to the Rose (25,098), but the university was committed to 26,272. That left the UI to absorb $158,490 total for unsold tickets. The total cost of tickets absorbed for the Kraft bowl reached $107,020.
Mike Thomas spent Saturday in St. Louis. The Illinois athletic director took in his fourth Braggin’ Rights’ game between his Illini and Missouri at the Scottrade Center. He’s off to Dallas this week ahead of Tim Beckman’s team playing Louisiana Tech in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. It’s the first bowl trip for Thomas at Illinois since the Illini went to San Francisco in 2011 for the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.
